NEWPORT, R.I. - The Office of International Programs, in conjunction with the Spouting Rock Beach Association, is sponsoring a lecture series focusing on topics of interest in American society. Salve Regina faculty will present lectures based on their academic specialties and engage participants in discussions about American identity and America's role on the global stage.
Although it is designed to introduce international students to topics of interest in American society, the lecture series is free and open to the general public. All lectures begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Antone Academic Center's DiStefano Lecture Hall.

The lecture series includes:
"Some Historical Influences on Contemporary U.S. Foreign Policy" with Dr. Chad Raymond, assistant professor in the Department of Political Science
"Social Class in Everyday American Life" with Dr. Debra Curtis, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology
"Baseball: A Simple Game That's Complicated" with Dr. Arthur Frankel, professor in the Department of Psychology
"Photography and the Making of Newport's Gilded Age, 1865-1885" with Dr. James Garman, associate professor in the Department of Cultural and Historic Preservation
"Faith and Belief in the United States" with Dr. Christiaan Jacobs-Vandegeer, assistant professor in the Department of Religious and Theological Studies
"Race and Racism in Contemporary America" with Dr. Timothy Neary, assistant professor in the Department of History
"The Rise of American New Wave Cinema" with Dr. D. Matthew Ramsey, assistant professor in the Department of English
