NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina bookstore is introducing a new textbook rental program that will allow students to save upwards of 50 percent on many of the books needed for their courses.
In collaboration with the bookstore's partner, Follett Higher Education Group, the new rental option will be available to students under the banner of Rent-A-Text. Through the program, students can rent the textbook for half the price and return the book on the due date, at the end of the semester. They can continue to highlight and take notes in their rented textbooks, and will have the option to purchase their books at the end of the term if they want to keep it.
"For students who need to use the same textbook for two or three consecutive semesters (often the case in foreign languages or mathematics, for example), purchasing a text will still be the best option, as rentals are limited to one semester only," said Mike Leddy, bookstore manager. "Ideally, used texts will be available in many of these cases."
Beginning in late July, students will be able to purchase, pick up and return textbooks either in the Salve Regina bookstore or online through the store's website and have numerous choices for payment, including the Salve card and financial aid.
Students will need to create a patron profile by providing basic information and collateral, such as a credit card, that can be charged in case of a non-return. Students must also accept the rental terms and conditions and be 18 years of age. Parents can register for students who are not 18.
A comprehensive, national rental list is available at www.rent-a-text.com. For more information, contact the bookstore at (401) 847-9086 or 0537mgr@fheg.follett.com.
