Salve Regina students and their youth partners from FabNewport are collaborating for “Poetry of the Wild,” a community-based art and poetry project that will run at public sites this summer.

Poetry of the Wild

Poetry of the Wild Newport is a community-based art and poetry project with installations throughout Aquidneck Island through Aug. 6.

Ana Flores, who runs Earth Inform Studio, is the ecological artist, sculptor and founder of Poetry of the Wild. This year, she has worked with Salve Regina assistant professor and writer in residence Jen McClanaghan to bring the project to Aquidneck Island locations both public and wild. Each installation features a box or sculpture, built by students, artists and community members. Each box contains an original or classic poem, as well as a journal for passersby to contribute reflections of their own.

Thoughts, selfies and magnetic poems can be shared with Poetry of the Wild at poetryofthewild@salve.edu.
