Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy
The Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina is a multidisciplinary research center focused at the intersection of politics, policies and ideas. Dedicated to honoring Sen. Claiborne Pell's legacy, the center promotes American engagement in the world, effective government at home and civic participation by all Americans. We accomplish this through research and publications, public events and media programs that run throughout the year.
The Pell Center's scholarship is diverse. From the power of storytelling in public life to cybersecurity and international relations, researchers at the Pell Center are creating and popularizing insights vital to the health of society and our republic. For example, the Pell Center's research on cybersecurity is recognized around the world. Focusing on the role of leaders in an age of persistent cyber threat, our thought leadership has shaped academic courses of study across the United States, and helped make Salve Regina a national leader in cybersecurity education.
The Pell Center serves as a hub for community discussions on public issues. We regularly host open forum and lecture-style events that promote engagement with the world’s most pressing political issues and ideas. Pell Center events bring thought-provoking speakers to campus to present audiences with topics in the sciences, the humanities, politics and more. Our popular roundtable luncheon series gives students, faculty and staff the opportunity to engage current issues in a relaxed atmosphere.
Above all, the Pell Center is animated by Sen. Pell's belief that politics is about translating ideas into action to help people. We work to supplement the education available to the University's students, foster civic participation and make the world a better place.
