Salve Regina University

Banking

The University has partnered with Bank of America and the Bank of Newport to provide an on-campus banking solution. Bank of America provides the parents/students a global banking solution while Bank of Newport provides the local "hometown" alternative. As part of this agreement, an ATM will be located in Miley Hall (Bank of America) in the lobby outside the cafeteria and on the lower level of Wakehurst Student Center (Bank of Newport). The following features will be offered to all full-time undergraduate students:

  • Completely free checking for all full-time undergraduate students for five years (except for check printing), no minimum balance, unlimited check writing
  • Free savings account
  • Free ATM debit card
  • Free online banking
  • Ease of access from all Bank of America branches
  • Students no longer have to pay ATM fees or cash checks at local branches
  • Parents have wider access to transfer funds to student accounts if needed
  • Portability of account upon graduation

As part of this program, all student employment payments will be electronically deposited into this account. If you are a work-study student, you have instant access to your funds here on campus on payday. You will not have to go to the nearest bank branch to cash your check. You will have access to your funds without limitation in addition to the above features. Please note that it is not necessary to be a work-study student to join.

In order to establish your account for the fall semester, please read the attached instruction form (PDF 658kb) and complete the bank account application (PDF 1.28mb). Once completed, please bring the application with you upon your return in the fall. You will need to see a bank representative at the Office of Career Development (available hours will be posted in September) or at the Newport branch to validate your forms of identification and process the application. You will receive an information packet as well as your new debit card soon thereafter.

Direct Deposit of Student Employment Checks (Bank Account or Tuition Account)

Students at Salve Regina may receive a university work-study award. If a student works on campus in the student employment program, the wages earned will be directly deposited in to a bank account specified by the student. This direct deposit will save students trips to the bank and will allow quicker access to the funds.

The student may also elect to pay tuition charges with the work-study wages. Either option is available by contacting the payroll office located on the mezzanine of Ochre Court.
