NEWPORT, R.I. – Physicist David Albright, founder and president of the Institute for Science and International Security, will discuss Iran’s nuclear program when he presents a lecture on Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. at Salve Regina University.
Sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, Albright’s talk, “Iran’s Nuclear Program: Possible Futures and U.S. Policy,” is free and open to the public. Is Iran building a nuclear bomb? That’s the question that has dominated U.S.-Israeli relations for some time, and it – and the related set of questions of what one would do about it – have filled newspaper columns with talk of another Middle East war.
In his talk, Albright will discuss what the west knows about Iran’s nuclear program and what the United States and its allies might do to limit Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Albright directs the project work of ISIS and chairs its board of directors. In addition, he regularly publishes, conducts scientific research and is often cited by the media and appears on network television and radio programs.
During his career, Albright has testified on nuclear issues before the U.S. Congress. He has spoken to many groups, technical workshops/conferences, briefed government decision-makers, and trained many government officials in non-proliferation policy making.
In 2010, Free Press published his book Peddling Peril: How the Secret Nuclear Trade Arms America’s Enemies. It was listed by The Atlantic as one of the best foreign affairs books of 2010.
Albright received masters’ degrees in physics and mathematics, and a bachelor’s degree in science from Wright State University. In addition to the Outstanding Alumni Award, Albright also received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Wright State University in 2007.
