NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University’s 34th annual Governor’s Ball, a black-tie gala that raises money for student scholarships, will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in historic Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave.
This year's ball is being chaired by Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Nagle. Serving as alumni chair is Mary Lou Gualtieri Riker ’68.
The Governor's Ball was started in 1977 with the assistance of then-Gov. J. Joseph Garrahy and his wife Margherite as a means to introduce outside support for the university and to raise scholarship funds for Salve Regina students. To date, the ball has raised more than $4.7 million toward academic assistance.
The evening will include hors d’oeuvres from Blackstone Catering, music by Brass Attack and a late-night ice cream bar. Guests can dance in the Great Hall, socialize in the state dining room or venture to the second-floor balcony for a better view.
Reservations for the Governor's Ball are $150 per person and corporate sponsorships are available. For more information, contact Catherine Mureddu at 341-2381 or muredduc@salve.edu.
