NEWPORT, R.I. – Award-winning children’s author Kelly Easton will read some of her latest work and sign copies of her books when she presents “Writing and Publishing for Young Adults and Children” on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 4-5 p.m. as part of an ongoing lecture series at McKillop Library on the Salve Regina University campus.
Free and open to the public, the event is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs & Writing Center, Department of English, Department of Education, First Year & Exploratory Programs and McKillop Library.
A reception will follow the presentation.
Easton has written 10 books for children, young adults and adults, as well as many stories and plays. Her awards include the Asian/Pacific American Literature Award, The Golden Note Award for the Novel, Julia Ward Howe Honor, the Golden Kite Award Honor, and others.
Her books include such titles as: Aftershock, White Magic, Hiroshima Dreams, Walking on Air, The Life History of a Star &The Outlandish Adventures of Liberty Aimes. Her newest novel, Time in the Sleeping Sky, will soon be published.
Easton is an assistant professor at Hamline University’s MFA program in writing for children and young adults. She also works as a freelance editor.
