NEWPORT, R.I. – A vocal performance by Tianxu Zhou, a native of Beijing and current faculty member at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. in the State Dining Room of Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave. on Salve Regina’s campus.
Free and open to the public, this guest faculty vocal recital is being sponsored by Salve Regina’s department of performing arts.
Zhou, director of the UMD University Chorus, will present “Chinese and American Art” songs. He has performed as a baritone soloist at many venues in New England, and with the Washington, D.C. Opera Company, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
He is a member of the Rhode Island College music department faculty, where he teaches voice and directs the men’s chorus there.
Zhou is a graduate of the renowned Central Conservatory. Upon his graduation, he became a tenured voice professor at the conservatory. He also earned a master’s degree in vocal performance from Shenandoah University.
