NEWPORT, R.I. – Dr. D. Matthew Ramsey, assistant professor of Film and Media Studies at Salve Regina and author of numerous essays on the artistry of William Faulkner, was a guest lecturer at the 37th annual Faulkner & Yoknapatawpha Conference held last month at the University of Mississippi.
Ramsey served as a plenary speaker, and introduced “The Road to Glory,” one of six films made from Faulkner’s screenplays that were featured during the five-day conference focusing on “Faulkner and Film.”
This was Ramsey’s second appearance at the conference as a Faulkner expert. In 2004, he presented a paper on Faulkner’s screenplay, “Today We Live.” Faulkner, a native of Mississippi, is a Nobel Prize-winner who is considered one of the 20th century’s most influential authors.
