Seniors get crash course on dinner etiquette

Friday, October 12, 2012

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina seniors will receive a crash course – without broken dishes or shattered business opportunities – when the office of alumni/parent programs presents its 11th annual Senior Etiquette Dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Young Building, corner of Bellevue and Ruggles avenues.

Proper business attire is required … naturally.

The yearly event is designed to help students navigate gracefully through the business dinner. The evening begins with a cocktail reception followed by a formal dinner, during which students will learn tips on handling finger food, what to do with the dinner napkin, which fork to use when, how to pass plates around the table, and more.

The evening’s festivities will also include a “Dress to Impress” fashion show being organized by students in a retail management class along with the university’s chapter of the American Marketing Association. Ten seniors will be modeling acceptable professional looks for both men and women in clothing provided by Banana Republic.

Masters of ceremonies for the evening will be faculty members, Dr. Khalil Habib and Dr. Myra Edelstein. Coaches will be on hand at each table to guide conversation and closely monitor and critique students.
