‘Extensions’ dance company presents variety show

NEWPORT, R.I. – Extensions, the official dance company of Salve Regina’s department of performing arts, will present a series of concerts next week in the Antone Academic Center's Megley Theatre. The Extensions dance company is comprised of 16 dancers, all of whom auditioned to become part of the ensemble.
Concerts will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 through Saturday, Feb. 27 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28. Admission is $10 for general, $7 for faculty, staff and seniors and $5 for students, while admission to Wednesday's performance is "pay what you can."
 
The concerts will feature a variety of choreography ranging from jazz to classical ballet. Choreography has been provided by guest artists, Salve Regina faculty and select students, including Ali Kenner Brodsky, Lise Brody, Lindsay Guarino (artistic director), Katie McNamara, Lauren Micalizzi, Kimberly Penta and Erin Vardaro.
 
The Extensions dance company premiered two of the concerts' works at the American College Dance Festival Association's New England conference in Boston Feb. 13, where adjudicators honored the company's "commitment to the work" in addition to their "strength, power and delicious use of gesture."
