Ushers needed at Casino Theatre for the spring performance season

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

NEWPORT, R.I. – A training session for volunteer ushers will be held at the Casino Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. for those interested in joining the Salve Regina University Department of Performing Arts for its spring 2011 season.

Reservations for the usher training session are required, and those interested should contact Casino Theatre House Manager Rachel Velardi at Rachel.Velardi@Salve.edu or 401-341-2250. The newly renovated theatre, managed by Salve Regina, is located at 9 Freebody St.

Due to the dance, music and theatre programs scheduled by the university and rentals from community groups, volunteer ushers are needed to assist with front of house duties.

Ushers will be given the opportunity to sign up for a minimum of two performance assignments during each university semester. The dress code for all ushers will consist of black pants and a white top.

Ushers will check in one hour before performances in order to be prepared to meet and greet patrons. Ushers will also be asked to stay 20 minutes after performances to see our guests out and clean the theatre space. Ushers will receive a complimentary seat to the performance they are ushering.
