NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University’s department of performing arts will hold open auditions on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 6-9 p.m. for actors interested in performing in two of its upcoming fall theatre arts productions.
Interested actors should prepare Puck’s final monologue from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare and sign up for a five-minute time slot at the Megley black box theatre, located in the Antone Academic Center for Culture and the Arts, Lawrence Avenue, where a sign-up sheet will be posted. No auditions will be scheduled by telephone.
Actors will be considered for both Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
“Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead” is being directed by Newport Murder Mystery artistic director Patrick Grimes. Rehearsals will be held for six weeks on Tuesday through Thursday evenings and during the day each Saturday beginning on Thursday, Sept. 16.
Performances will be Nov. 4-7 at the historic Stanford White Casino Theatre, located on the International Tennis Hall of Fame complex on Freebody Street.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is being directed by Suzanne Delle, Salve Regina’s assistant professor of Theatre and artistic director of the Casino Theatre.
Rehearsals will be held on Monday evenings and Sundays during the day beginning Sept. 27 through Nov. 7, when the play will begin rehearsing Monday through Thursday evenings (except Thanksgiving).
Performance dates are Dec. 2-5 at the Casino Theatre.
