Students host 33rd East Bay Area Special Olympics on April 12
For the 33rd year, Salve Regina student volunteers will host the Rhode Island East Bay Area Special Olympics on Aquidneck Island. This year’s Games kick off on Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies at Gaudet Middle School in Middletown.
Teams from high schools and communities across Rhode Island will be participating in several sports ranging from track to softball. Closing ceremonies are slated for 3 p.m.
“The day is very motivating and inspiring, and the Special Olympics athletes love seeing Salve students cheering them on and supporting them in their events,” said Salve Regina senior Laura St. Jean, director of the Special Olympics committee.
