Salve students host East Bay Special Olympics for 34th year

For the 34th year, Salve Regina student volunteers will host the Rhode Island East Bay Area Special Olympics on Aquidneck Island. This year’s Games kick off on Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies at Gaudet Middle School in Middletown.

Approximately 230 athletes representing teams from high schools and communities across Rhode Island will join with more than 200 Salve Regina student volunteers in the event. Athletes will compete in several sports ranging from track to softball. Closing ceremonies are slated for 3 p.m. SRU Dance will make a special appearance, and several other student clubs will donate their time and efforts to the Olympic Town activities.
