ECO-ARTIST VIJALI HAMILTON INTRODUCES 'WORLD WHEEL' AT SALVE REGINA SYMPOSIUM

NEWPORT, R.I. - Internationally known eco-artist Vijali Hamilton will introduce the World Wheel: Earth Mandala Project, an artistic forum for global understanding and creative leadership, when he presents at The Christiane Corbat Memorial Symposium on Expressive Art, Global Peace and Ecological Consciousness on Sunday, Aug. 16 at Salve Regina University.

The symposium will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Young Building, corner of Bellevue and Ruggles avenues.

World Wheel consists of 12 monumental stone sculptures and ceremony performance events circling the globe on the 34th latitudinal parallel. These sculptures are created by Hamilton, founding director of the World Wheel, and the performances are a collaboration with him and each host community.

The World Wheel focuses on spiritual ecological issues activating an awareness of the interrelatedness of all life. Through active participation with local artists, performers and community, World Wheel addresses the people's deepest personal and social concerns, working creatively with them to resolve cultural conflicts. World Wheel provides a transformative experience for the community.
