NEWPORT, R.I. - A painting by Fine Art Level 1 student Chloe Warren of The University of Lincoln School of Art and Design in Lincoln, England, has been shortlisted for the Munton Medallion, an annual prize awarded to encourage undergraduate students at Lincoln and at its partner university, Salve Regina, to show an understanding of ethical issues in their lives and relationships.
Warren's painting represents the conflict in Ireland, and the Northern Ireland Peace Process, focusing on "The Troubles." It shows a state of aggressive confrontation, but it also hints at ways that the bloodshed of centuries can be left behind.
All undergraduate students from both Lincoln and Salve Regina can enter a piece of work for consideration. The prize comprises the Medallion itself, a scroll of recognition, a personal check for 1,000 English pounds, and a visit to the partner university.
