Environmental Club

Established in 2008 by Colleen Danaher '09 and Melissa Fromm '10, the Environmental Club registered 100 members during the 2008 Club Rush. Approximately 40 members routinely participate in monthly meetings, and planning for 2009 Earth Day activities is underway.

To learn more about how to join the Environmental Club or to participate in the upcoming Earth Week activities, contact Colleen Danaher or Melissa Fromm.

"Green Room" Program

The “Green Room” program encourages students to reduce their carbon footprint by pledging to recycle aluminum, paper, glass and cardboard, conserve water by taking shorter showers and conserve electricity by unplugging items when not in use. Students who pledge to join the “Green Room” program are given a sticker to affix to their residence hall door.

Ask your RA for more information on how to participate in the "Green Room" program.

Clean Ocean Access Water Testing

Clean Ocean Access started testing the water quality in Newport and Middletown in the fall of 2006 as part of a long term goal of permanent clean water along the Aquidneck Island shoreline. The goal of the current program is to establish baseline water quality at seven popular swimming locations that are not considered "designated swimming areas".

Salve Regina students taking BIO 399 Environmental Quality participate in the Clean Ocean Access water testing every Thursday morning during the academic year.
