Humanities M.A.

Humanities: Master of Arts

Classes are offered at our Newport campus and online.

Message from the Director

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The Master of Arts integrates studies in the humanities (history, literature, ethics, philosophy and comparative religion) with work in other fields. Students develop an individual focus that compliments their undergraduate background, work experience and life goals. Students may choose to strengthen the focus of their interdisciplinary work by writing an optional MA thesis and/or completing an Internship. Electives provide opportunities for synthesizing other areas of study with the humanities. Graduates develop interdisciplinary insights, advanced skills in research, writing and problem-solving that are applicable in a variety of careers in fields such as education, social work and business. The humanities Master of Arts may be combined with other programs for a dual degree.

Program Requirements

Following completion of an approved program of 12 courses (36 credits) and all degree requirements, students qualify to receive the Master of Arts degree in humanities.
