Gifts made to the Governor's Ball provide essential scholarship resources for students in need.
We invite you to join us as we celebrate Salve Regina University's 34th Annual Governor's Ball on Saturday, December 4th in Newport. Enjoy the splendor of the evening and experience historic Ochre Court as it is magically transformed for the holidays.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly student volunteers. Once inside, feel free to dance in the Great Hall, socialize in the State Dining Room or venture up to the second floor balcony. Breathtaking architectural details abound throughout each of the rooms adding to the true beauty of the evening.
Attended by local business leaders, alumni, parents and friends, the Annual Governor's Ball has a long-standing tradition of raising money for student scholarships. We are grateful to all participants, whose continued generosity has helped create something extraordinary.
We hope that you can join us for this spectacular event.
Salve Regina, along with the assistance of Governor J. Joseph Garrahy, established the Governor's Ball in 1977 as a means to introduce outside support for the university and to raise scholarship funds for the students of Salve Regina. This act of goodwill has benefited countless students over the years. To date, the ball has raised more than $4.8 million toward academic assistance and has become a well-known holiday tradition in Rhode Island. Over the years the ball has flourished into a festive, spectacular gala that is consistently well attended. Many of our guests travel from out of state to attend and continue to return year after year for the festivities.
