The recent violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, has sparked a national debate on the place of monuments honoring Confederate political and military leaders in our society. While some see such memorials as part of America’s history, others see them as symbols of slavery and racism. Join moderator Dr. William Leeman, associate professor in the Department of History, for a discussion of Civil War memory and issues of race in America today.

Sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, roundtable discussions are open to Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. The Pell Center provides a free lunch. As space is limited, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to pellcenter@salve.edu.
