The Asian Experience at Reitaku University in Japan

The Program

Salve's international programs office and business studies department, in cooperation with Reitaku University, Kashiwa, Japan, are pleased to offer an opportunity for Salve students to study in Japan.

The Reitaku University program provides one semester of study in Japan in topics related to international business, economics, Japanese culture and language. All classes, which are in English, will be taught by highly qualified members of the Reitaku faculty and will be comprised of Japanese and international students. On campus housing and meals are included.

About Reitaku

Salve Regina University and Reitaku University have an on-going relationship based on shared values and a firm commitment to personal and academic growth.

Reitaku University's core values are shaped on moralogy, a philosophy centered on harmony and respect for others developed by its founder, Chikuro Hiroike, in the 1930s. The campus is located in a wooded setting in the city of Kashiwa, Japan; a modern city of 300,000 located about one hour by train from the center of Tokyo.

Reitaku has approximately 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled. Most undergraduates live on campus. The university library has an excellent collection of English language books, and modern computer labs including English language computer terminals for the use by Salve Regina students.

Eligibility

Selected students sophomore or juniors with a grade point average of 2.75 or above from the business studies and economics departments are eligible to apply. This is a competitive program and applicants will need a strong recommendation from the departmental chair for consideration.

Schedule

The Reitaku program is available during the fall semester only. Participants will receive a brief orientation in early September, then proceed to Reitaku for classes starting mid-September and ending mid-December.
