
John Ingalls' extensive sailing background includes four years of collegiate experience at the United State Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, New York where his teams were two-time national champions. Ingalls had finished first at the Apollo North American Championship prior to his collegiate sailing career.
He also garnered first-place finishes at the Yngling North American Championship (1992,1994,1995) and the Windmill North American Championship (1987,1988). Ingalls finished among the top three seven times at the Yngling North American Championship including a second-place honor in 2003. He has experience with Olympic trials and other international regattas.
After earning his degree in Marine Engineering at USMMA, Ingalls furthered his studies with a Master of Science in Engineering Management at Drexel University. Ingalls recently completed a Master of Science degree in Business Administration at Bryant College.
Ingalls has served as an assistant instructor for the Salve Regina University physical education sailing program since 2000. He also directed the junior sailing program at the Sakonnet Yacht Club where he served as commodore from 1998-2000.
Since 1991, Ingalls has worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) as a program manager for integration and installations of periscope and antenna systems.
