NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's soccer team placed three student-athletes on The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) All-Conference teams as junior Ken Johnson (Colonia, N.J.) and sophomores Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) and Ian Jentgen (Columbus, Ohio) were each recognized for their accomplishments during the 2009 season.
McAllister was named to the All-TCCC First Team after leading the Seahawks in both goals (eight) and points (20) during the regular season. He netted two game-winning goals (Sept. 30 - Univ. of New England; Oct. 24 - Eastern Nazarene) and currently ranks third in TCCC in goals and fourth in points.
Jentgen, meanwhile, was named to the All-TCCC Second Team. After finished second on the team in scoring (2-6-10) as a forward last season, head coach Craig ORourke moved Jentgen to back, where he has flourished this season. He has recorded five points (1-2-5) but, more importantly, solidified a defense which brings a goals against average (GAA) of 0.87 into Saturday afternoon's playoff matchup with Gordon College.
Co-captain Ken Johnson received Honorable Mention accolades after tallying 19 points (6-7-19) and a pair of game-winning goals (Sept. 12 - New England College; Oct. 22 - Mitchell).
George Markopoulos of Anna Maria was named TCCC Player of the Year while Colin Doody of Endicott took home Rookie of the Year honors. Ryan Tarr (Univ. of New England) received the Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, Erin Sullivan (Western New England) was named Coach of the Year, and Eastern Nazarene College received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
The Seahawks (11-6-1, 8-4-1 TCCC) host Gordon College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in a TCCC Quarterfinal matchup.
