DiCenso Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University Director of Athletics Colin Sullivan announced earlier this week that Michael DiCenso has been hired as Assistant Athletic Trainer. DiCenso replaced Bernard Walls, who accepted a position at Providence College last month.

A 2009 graduate of Ithaca College, DiCenso comes to Salve Regina after spending the past two months working as an athletic trainer for South County Orthopedics. During that time, he served as the head athletic trainer at South Kingston High School and assisted therapists and physicians in the orthopedics office and clinic.

"We're extremely excited to have Michael join our athletic training staff here at Salve Regina," said head athletic trainer Kerri Dupre. "Michael gained invaluable experience as a student athletic trainer at Ithaca, and his passion and energy for this profession will be an invaluable asset for the coaches and student-athletes here at Salve Regina."

DiCenso holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and was twice named to the Dean's List. While at Ithaca, he was a Whalen Academic Symposium Poster Presenter and a Teacher's Lab Assistant for Anatomy and Physiology. DiCenso holds certifications from both the Board of Certification and Rhode Island Department of Health, and is certified in CPR/AED from the American Red Cross.

A native and current resident of Cranston, R.I., DiCenso was a two-year member of the Ithaca baseball program and was also an admissions volunteer.
