NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University sophomore Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) and freshman Brian Sweeney (Waldoboro, Maine) have been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
McAllister recorded eight points (3-2-8) last week to lead the Seahawks (7-4-1, 5-2-1 TCCC) to a pair of wins last week. He opened the week by scoring a pair of goals in a 5-1 win over Endicott on Tuesday and recorded a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Curry on Saturday. He leads the Seahawks with five goals and 12 points.
Sweeney, meanwhile, tallied his first four points (1-2-4) of the season from the midfield. He recorded an assist in the Seahawks win over the Gulls, assisted on McAllister's tally against Curry, and potted the game-winner to defeat the Colonels.
Both McAllister and Sweeney are being honored for the first time this season by TCCC and become the third and fourth Seahawks overall recognized by the conference. On Sept. 15, senior goalkeeper Kurt Ginthwain (Tolland, Conn.) and freshman back Bobby Ernst (Needham, Mass.) were named Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
The Seahawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Wentworth for a 4 p.m. contest.
