NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team will be participating in the Yoplait Pink Lid Program 'Save Lids to Save Lives,' which will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
For each pink lid collected off of a Yoplait yogurt container and dropped off at one of several pink boxes stationed around the Salve Regina University campus, a 10-cent donation will be given Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors. The donation from collected lids will help breast cancer education and awareness initiatives.
"The Save Lids to Save Lives campaign is for a great cause," said Salve Regina head coach Jen Eldridge. "A lot of our players have known or had family and friends affected by breast cancer, so this project is very close to our hearts. Our senior captain, Sarah Baker, has taken the lead on this project, and we hope that the entire Salve Regina community will get involved by turning in lids to raise money for the Susan G Komen for the Cure."
Lids may also be turned into coach Eldridge's office, which is located on first floor of the Rodgers Recreation Center, room 033. Lids will be collected through mid-December.
