Eppley Named TCCC Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior goalkeeper Devin Eppley (Darien, Conn.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Eppley went 3-0 with an .067 goals against average (GAA) and a .923 save percentage last week. She made six saves in a 2-1 overtime win against Fitchburg State on Tuesday, 18 saves in a 2-1 shootout win against Bridgewater State on Thursday, and played the first 45 minutes of Saturday’s 7-0 win over Regis. Against the Bears on Thursday, Eppley turned aside all four penalty stroke attempts in the shootout. On the season, Eppley is 6-4 with a 1.23 GAA and an .850 save percentage.

Eppley is the second field hockey student-athlete from Salve Regina to earn TCCC honors this season. Freshman Kelly Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) was named TCCC Rookie of the Week on Sept. 8.

The Seahawks (6-4, 1-2 TCCC) return to action on Saturday when they travel to New England College for a 1 p.m. contest.
