Birrell Named TCCC Player of the Week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's soccer freshman Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Player of the Week.

The reigning conference Rookie of the Week, Birrell recorded 11 points (five goals, one assist) in a pair of wins last week. She opened the week by tying a school-record with four goals in a 5-4 win at UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, and tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at New England College in the conference opener on Saturday.

Birrell leads the conference in goals (eight) and points (18), and both totals are more than the Seahawks' leading scorer finished with last season.

The Seahawks (3-2) return to action Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Rhode Island College for a 4 p.m.
