MacDonald Named Field Hockey Assistant Coach

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University head field hockey coach Jen Eldridge announced today that Kimberly MacDonald has been hired as an assistant coach. MacDonald replaces Lauren Lipski, who served as Eldridge's assistant last season.

A 2009 graduate of the University of Maine, MacDonald was a four-year member of the Black Bears field hockey program. She appeared in 71 games (68 starts) and recorded 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points. MacDonald was a Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and an America East Academic Honor Roll selection in 2006, and an America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection in 2007.

"I am very excited to have Kim as my assistant this fall," said Eldridge, who begins her fourth season at the helm of the field hockey program. "She brings a wealth of field hockey knowledge to our program from her Division I experience at the University of Maine, along with many new ideas that will help our team reach its' goals. In working with her so far, she shares the same excitement as I do about beginning this new season and our journey towards a TCCC championship."

As a freshman, MacDonald garnered America East All-Rookie Team and Second Team honors in 2005 after registering 21 points (8-5-21). That same season, she was a twice selected America East Rookie of the Week (Sept. 19, Nov. 17) and was named to the Dartfish/NFHCA DI All-Region Second Team following the season. Over the next three seasons, she started all but three games and was elected a team captain as a senior.

In addition to her vast playing experience, MacDonald coached the U.S. Field Hockey Development Program - Maine Region Futures Team in 2007 and served as a camp counselor at both the University of Maine Field Hockey Camp (2006-08) as well as its All Sports Camp (2008).

MacDonald graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Relations. She was named to the Dean's List on three occasions and also received the Presidential Achievement Pin (3.5 GPA).
