Members of the student-athlete advisory committee meet regularly with the athletic director and may choose to serve on a sub-committee which will examine such areas as athletic awards, Title IX, travel/meals, academics, policies and guidelines, etc.

The student-athlete advisory committee is open to any member of a Salve Regina University intercollegiate team, with preference given to an upperclassman.
The program begins during the fall and runs through the entire academic year.
Each team decides how their student-athlete advisory committee representative is to be selected. Some hold team elections and, in some cases, the representative is appointed by the head coach. Each team will also have an alternate who will be the representative in the absence of the initial selectee.
The SAM will serve as a peer support person for members of an athletic team. The purpose of the SAM program is to offer a confidential support mechanism to help student athletes who might need assistance with a number of issues such as alcohol or drug use, eating disorders, academic difficulties, abuse, etc.

The SAM program is open to any member of a Salve Regina University intercollegiate team.
The program begins during the fall preseason and runs through the entire academic year. Training is provided at monthly meetings throughout the school year.
Each team will hold an election to select their SAM.
The SAM program can make a difference. It is an ideal position for highly motivated student athletes who want to get more involved with their teammates.
The team captain provides peer leadership on our athletic teams. This student athlete acts as a go between for the players and the coaches. Serves as a role model and assumes leadership responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.
Supervised by the head coach of the team.
Generally, any member of the team is eligible to be a captain, however, this position is usually filled by an upperclassman.
The team captain usually serves for the entire calendar year.
Each team decides how the captain is to be selected. Some hold team elections and, in some cases, the captain is appointed by the head coach.
The team captain is a highly respected individual and is exposed to numerous leadership situations throughout the year.
