Financial Aid Process

For New Students

The priority deadline for applying for financial aid is March 1, 2013. The following links will take you through the application process. Please be aware that many states, including Rhode Island, have similar deadlines for state grant eligibility, and the University cannot guarantee institutional funding after this date. Connecticut residents, please note that the priority deadline for new applicants for Connecticut state grants is Feb. 15, 2013.

To begin the application process, new students must complete both the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

CSS Profile

Click here to register and complete a Profile application. Salve Regina's school code for the CSS Profile is 3759. The CSS Profile must be completed online. You may print out a pre-application worksheet to help you prepare necessary information.

Helpful tips:

  • Please be aware that there is a $25 fee for the initial CSS Profile application. This covers the costs of creating your Profile application and the first school report. You will be charged $16 for each additional college or program to which you want information sent. Please have a credit card available when completing the registration and application.
  • Please use estimated figures if your 2012 tax returns are not completed.
  • In addition to questions about family household, income and assets, the CSS Profile will ask for information regarding home value, home debt, purchase year of home, purchase price of home, monthly mortgage or rent payment, business and other real estate value and debt.
  • Please make sure to keep a copy for your records.
  • You may complete the CSS Profile as early as October.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Click here to complete the FAFSA. Salve Regina's school code for the FAFSA is 003411. You can register for a student and parent Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you file your FAFSA. Your PIN will enable you to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you do not obtain a PIN, please remember to print, sign and mail the signature page to the federal processor.

Helpful tips:

  • This application may be filed after Jan. 1, 2013.
  • Use estimated figures if your 2012 tax returns are not completed so that you will make the March 1 deadline.
  • You can file a paper form, although the processing time is much longer. Please call (800) 433-3243 to request up to three forms by mail. You may also click here (unavailable until January 1) to download a PDF version of the FAFSA. Complete the entire form, include all signatures before mailing and keep a copy for your records. We do strongly encourage you to file online.
  • You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail if you did not provide an e-mail address. If you provided an e-mail address, you will receive the SAR electronically. This copy is for your records. Do not submit it to Salve Regina. We will receive your information electronically. Important: Don't forget to put the Salve Regina code, 003411.

Salve Regina University reserves the right to request additional information, as necessary, to determine the type and amount of financial aid awards. Awards are subject to the availability of funding and regulations governing these funds. If you have any questions concerning financial aid, our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
