Major in Sociology and Anthropology (B.A.)
We offer a combined major in sociology and anthropology, which requires students to take courses from both disciplines in order to construct a robust intellectual platform for employment or graduate study. After taking introductory courses in both sociology and anthropology, students may choose to place a greater emphasis on either field by taking a number of discipline-specific courses to fulfill their degree requirements.
Students majoring in sociology and anthropology take a minimum of 12 courses (36 credits).

- Anthropology of Human Rights

Minor in Sociology and Anthropology
The minor in sociology and anthropology is designed for students from other disciplines who wish to augment their major field of study with a nuanced understanding of culture.
Students completing a minor in sociology and anthropology take a minimum of six courses (18 credits).

- The Sociological Imagination or Anthropology: Interpreting Cultural Differences
- Social Theory
- Global Capital
Students choose three additional electives in sociology and anthropology in consultation with the department chair.
