Majors and Minors

Major in Religious and Theological Studies (B.A.)

Students majoring in religious and theological studies take a minimum of 10 courses (30 credits).

Required courses:

  • Christianity in Dialogue with World Religions
  • One Hebrew Bible course
  • One New Testament course
  • One ethics course
  • One theology course
  • One non-Christian tradition course

Students choose four additional courses in religious and theological studies. Majors will craft their individual program of study in consultation with the department chair or another adviser from the department.

Minor in Religious and Theological Studies

Students completing a minor in religious and theological studies take six courses (18 credits).

Required course:

  • Christianity in Dialogue with World Religions

Students take five additional courses in religious and theological studies, in consultation with the department chair.

Possible Focus Areas

Both majors and minors may choose to build their program of study around a particular area by focusing their elective courses in specific ways. The department suggests the following possible focus areas.
