Major in Music (B.A.)
From the lecture hall to the concert hall, our music
curriculum allows students to learn and practice in small groups under accomplished
professionals. Coursework is divided into three areas: music history and
theory, instrumental and vocal instruction and performing ensembles. Majors
take individual instruction courses in voice or in their principal instrument
and perform in musical groups on campus and throughout Newport.

Major in Music Education (B.A.S.)
Our music education curriculum is designed to ready
students for Rhode Island teacher certification in grades kindergarten through
12. Although primary coursework focuses on music and secondary education,
students develop a plan of study that also integrates coursework in elementary and
special education. Our graduates enjoy a 100 percent job placement rate and are
sought after for music programs in both public and private schools.
