Major in Elementary Education (B.S.)

Students majoring in elementary education take a minimum of 18 courses (48-54 credits).

  • Admissions Portfolio
  • Introduction to American Education
  • Technologies in Education
  • Child Development and Theories of Learning
  • Tutoring and Mentoring in a Multicultural Society I and II
  • Methods Portfolio
  • Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary School
  • Teaching Literacy and Language
  • Teaching Mathematics and Science in the Elementary School
  • Student Teaching at the Elementary School Level
  • Student Teaching Seminar

Students also complete the following courses in other disciplines:

  • Children's Literature
  • Introduction to the Characteristics of Students with Exceptionalities
  • Principles and Procedures for Behavior and Classroom Management
